Listing the yellow bird!

Just listed the yellow bird on the cherry blossoms. It's true that cherry blossoms are not blue, but I just wanted to be different. Maybe it will match someones living room decor. Kind of a boring post tonight. Ah well, It's the weekend!

Yellow bird on blue cherry blossoms

An older carving that I never quite finished. So tonight I finished painting it and polying. It should be done later tonight and ready to be listed. I put the Bluejays panel on later last night as well. I'm having trouble thinking of what my next carving should be. I have three panels left, but I do want them to sell.

I found out last night that the second part of one of the Animes I was following has been put online! Kaza No Stigma! It's a great series to get into. Here's the opening and you can find the complete series on UberAnime.com Enjoy!

New panel listing!

Hey hey! I found a couple of panels in the garage I had forgotten about! So tonight, I spent time taking new pics of them, polishing them up, and listing them on Etsy. With a little luck, perhaps I can Eek out another sale. In other news, Cheryl and I went to buy some new feathers for the fly tying. Unfortunately, I didn't find any that I liked or could use. I still need new hooks and for that, we will have to go to Orvis. It's like a candy store for fly fishermen. They have just about every feather you can get ( legally) and a large assortment of hooks. Regardless, Cheryl experimented with the ones I tied up last night to see if she could seal them up in resin. With what I had, the flies were a little too big for the mold. We'll see how they turn out.

Seat carving catchup!

Finished carving the remaining seats tonight. We are going to have to move quick on that wholesale seat gig, because all the stores seem to be running out of solid wood seats. Well, I might have a few more seats on deck for tomorrow, but for right now, I'm all caught up! yesterday I listed one of my hummingbird cupboard doors, I have not gotten to list the second one, but for now I'm just too tired. As for keeping the anime theme going, Here's the closing of Karau, Phantom memory! I love this song, Moonlight! Enjoy!

Dragon Panel

Since the majority of my day was spent looking for what remaining seats there were left in stores, I didn't feel much like carvings when i got home. So I took pictures and edited some more panels and listed them. Tonight's listing: An oriental dragon in maple! Cheryl thought this one looked good enough without any poly or paint, so i left it as is. It looks almost antique! And, for the person who wants to think of it that way, It could look like an authentic Chinese carving! Never thought I would TRY to make my carvings look like they were made in CHINA! It's a funny world. Ah well, whatever gets me a sale! I have not done any origami lately, but I have been watching some Anime. BIG WINDUP! Great for the baseball fan! ( I'm not one, but i appreciate the game. Enjoy! And if you can watch the episodes on Funimation.com

A pair of Tanagers

I've seen a Scarlet Tanager twice in this part of the country. They are not as common as they are in other parts, but they make a big impression to someone who has never seen them before. This panel is another older carving that is making it's debut online for the first time on Etsy. I have never listed it for sale before, partly because I'm lazy, and another part because Cheryl didn't want to. We'll see if anyone finds reclaimed cupboard doors that have been turned into wall art as something worth having. We have not visited the "reclaimed store" in a while. These people go into old houses and buildings and rip out "worthy" items that could be resold. To the right person, It's a GOLDMINE! They have treasures that only the trained Eye can see. To others it would look like dated junk. For me, the SOLID OAK panels, doors, pews,(that's right! from Churches!) and cupboard doors are the main target. The trick is matching the stain and taking off the hideous fixtures. But it's always a mixed bag and blind luck as to what you are able to score. Oh! And the latest Anime. Elfin Lied. This is not for kids! Or the faint of heart, but it is a beautiful open and a great story of redemption, forgiveness and human spirit! Enjoy! For the latin translation: look on Youtube.

Carved panel...day 2.

Finished painting the panel tonight. I'll have to apply poly tomorrow when I get a new brush. I'm hoping the paoly will bring a new dimension to it. Right now all I see are the flaws ( Cheryl says they are imaginary) So, I'm calling it done for now. I might put it up for sale on Etsy later in the week. Also I put the cupboard doors back on after a coat of black paint. I think they are now "more boring " than they were, but I don't have a "before" picture.

2 sales and one panel.

Sold 2 seats late in the day and I decided to carve them both up tonight. They were easy to carve and are usually pretty good sellers. It's funny they have not been as popular lately. Anyway, I was planning on carving up a panel tonight and decided to carve that up too. I didn't bother with the router since it was getting late and I wanted to finish all the carving tonight. I got a request from a possible client to carve up a toilet seat with blue/green flowers with perhaps a bird or two. I found this little drawing in a magazine and When I saw this drawing, I thought it was just what I had in mind. However, instead of carving up a toilet seat, which are becoming very difficult to come by. ( read previous postings) I carved up the last panel . I didn't like this one because of the stain color and hopefully we will get an opportunity to get more this weekend
Currently, I'm down to one seat in my stash. Cheryl sent an email tot he store asking them about their change over and if they still have them available. With a little luck. .. They will and we can get them once again.

Cupboard door part 3

So I worked on the cupboard door this evening and finished up the berries. As I look it over, I see there are still some spots that need a little work. and I should sand down the entire background to remove the tool marks that nicked certain areas. After than I'll stain it up and I have not decided if It will need to be painted.
I'll carve up the seats tomorrow. Hopefully we will sell some more and I can do one entire batch. We sold another one tonight and someone ended a couple but has not paid for them. This will, of coarse, make Sunday my busy day. I'm not fond of pushing everything till Sunday, But it frees up a Saturday from time to time.
This week, even though I did not blog about it, I was able to put up my last three bat houses. I'm thrilled! And with a Little luck, they will be full this coming spring with little flying bug eaters. You see, we have a rather annoying mosquito problem here in the swampy spring time. They are unbearable! And a bat will eat 1000 of these little bloodsuckers an hour. That sounds good to me. so with no harsh one time chemicals, we can kill the bad bugs and have a fat and happy population of bats. It's too bad they get a bad rep. They are actually quite cute. And I have had the great fortune of actually having one as a pet for a few months in Minnesota. He ate all the ice fishing buddies bait and flew around my dorm room till the spring was in full thaw. I have already had a small population check out my first house. It had been there almost 4 years. I'm hoping the new ones are build to better specs and will attract them sooner, or better yet....permanent residents!
