Origami Saturday, So much to fold, so Little Time

So I spent most of the day folding.  I'm beginning to wonder if I do anything else in my spare time.   I guess it is better than 8 hours like I used to.  Anyway,  I worked on preparing some paper on Friday, and I'm quite happy with the way it turned out...( so far...) I folded a lobster and an elephant

. The lobster is rather cool, since it is quite large, but the elephant I still need to perfect. It's not like I have not done it before, but I always get hung up on the final shaping and am never satisfied wit the final result. I guess I could keep messing with it, but eventfully you just have to call it good and move on.

I want to fold a couple of more thing for some goldfish I folded earlier in the week. They seem to need some lotus flowers to go with them. Perhaps I'll add a couple more fish as well. We shall see.

Origami Elephant, New Names, and New Stockings!

So we have still been busy packing up the stockings each day, but sales are still lagging behind last years marks.

Regardless,   ACT project has been pushed back another week so we will be able to concentrate on the stockings an additional week before having to head to the job.  This is good news!  And with that....I folded perhaps the best origami elephant yet!   This is my 4th attempt at the design, and first with cardstock instead of foil paper.   The look exceeded my expectation and I want to see if I can fold it as well again!    Perhaps a different color this time,    Pink elephants have an inebriation tag to it.

Other than that,   names continue to sell.   I  think we have sold more names this year than last year.  Cheryl wanted to take a slightly better picture of them rather than my "jumbled pile" pic from before.  I'm not sure I like it as well.

Also,  Cheryl wanted to test the waters on a new owl design.  Not that owls have not been selling!    She is just not that thrilled with the current design.   I like this new ones.    only time will tell if other people feel the same way.   We shall see if there is a positive vibe to them in the remaiing weeks before Christmas.  Wish them luck!

Origami Elephant

My own design( that is to say. I did not get it from a book or magazine) It's based off of the Blinzt bird base and it required a lot of "finger manipulation" to get it to look as rounded as it is. I still think it needs some work since most of the folds are "on the fly" instead of iron clad. In other words: I don't think I could write it down so someone else could reproduce it. But it does look ok for now. At least it motivates me to work on it further.

IT's unfortunate that the white paper does not show off very well against the blue background. ( or anywhere else for that matter.) Also we have been watching a lot of Sgt Frog. and quoting the zingers and one liners. It's great if you are over the age of 10 because many of the pop culture referances are from the '80's and 90's. Enjoy it on Funimation.com

WooHoo Thursday!

Sold 7 seats tonight, but only carved up 6 since one of the customers changed her mind at the last second. I'm thankful I didn't jump right in and carve up her seat before she emailed us with the change. ( It has happened before!) But that means for the most part that I am caught up for the weekend! Bring them ON! Tomorrow I want to work on making my dust table a little more "pretty" by adding some drawers, bins and hopefully a downdraft fan. Arby's has a 4 for $5 roast beef sale and I was able to score some of their wrapping paper for origami. I like the metallic paper because it holds its shape better and is larger than the 6 inch squares I usually use. With larger paper I can take on bigger patterns and cooler animals. Here's an elephant and another Pegasus. I have a couple of pieces left so I might try something new. Will post it when I made up my mind. Have a great weekend!
