If you think we sew stockings.... Think again!

Cheryl has informed me that the last couple of posts might lead certain family members into thinking we started that CRAZY thing called a business again. Well it's not true. Nope! NOt at all! Do you really think we would start that over after being forced to find jobs and move to Iowa? I mean...What CRAZY person would start that insanity again? So...if you are looking at the pics and reading the blog with regularity and are under the assumption that we are making our whole living exclusively on Etsy ...AGAIN ( and are a family member) . Well it's just not true...Really! We learned our lesson and are not going to try anything exactly like that again. Just wanted to post that.. Oh! The pictures? They were all staged with props and blue screened in for a prep -ier intro.

Shipping and snow.

Kind of a slow weekend. I carved up 7 last night and Cheryl and I plan on wrapping them up tonight. ( actually, tomorrow morning when the boxes come. In the mean time, Cheryl is wrap attacking her Etsy sales. She is doing rather well all of a sudden. She is actually bragging that she MAY have made more money than me this week. To be fair...I did have a cold. And she has had these stockings and pillows around since summer. But the wristlets are selling fast and she is making as many as she can in her spare time. She is also trying her hand at a Barrett. In other news, We scored the rest of the seats from the store. It took a while but we flagged down a couple of nice ladies from another department and they were able to help us out. It was kind of strange trying to explain why we would want to order 32 toilet seats. Cheryl never wants to tell them anything. Like we are some kind of spies or criminals. I used to give them a business card with pictured to help them visualize it a bit. But without cards. It's like explaining the sky to a blind person.

Cheryl's store!

I took a break from carving today and decided to work on a few odds and ends that have been vexxing me for a while. Anyway, I decided to show off a few things from Cheryl's shop since she had a "breakthrough" last night. She made a cute little plushy that she has fallen in love with and hopes others also will for Christmas. I had to help her put the eyes on them. She has also been working on wine carriers, stockings, and book bags. The wrist lets and book bags have been selling well lately.
So Cheryl is busy sewing tonight and I am hanging out with my shop cat on my lap, causing me to type slowly. Speaking of cats, I taught the kitten how to roll over on command now. next is the shake and then possibly the mercat sit. Usually, the cats rarely get past the rollover and shake commands. They refuse to learn another one, they just repeat the ones they know over and over again. Now Zulu, the late cat ( cat on my avatar) used to speak, rollover, shake, and open the door on command ( open the door, he would tap the door knob of the closest door till you opened it or he could pull it open.) I'll have to capture a video of him rolling over sometime in the future.

Two seat day. Cheryl's shop is going crazy!

So I started the day selling only one. ( cherry blossom) But Cheryl has been selling stuff faster than she can make it! The Christmas rush is beginning early on Etsy! She gets up and lists new items and sells them as soon as she gets them on. Her area looks sparse because she can't keep it stocked. It's unfortuneate that she does not get much for each one because She puts in a lot of time into them. I sold a Golden Lab later tonight so that brought my sales up with hers. Luckily I had it in stock and did not have to carve it up. We have run into yet another supply problem..this one with Packaging. We use packing paper in our boxes and even though Cheryl ordered it over the weekend, they did not email us confirmation till tonight. So several seats were delayed till tomorrow. Isn't running a small business fun? My dad always thinks businesses are greedy for charging retail. Until I actually started my own business I agreed. now I remind him that some one has to pay for the lights, lease, employees, taxes, inventory, shipping, insurance, and ultimately profit for shareholders ( if any) And much, much, more.
