The Shop Cats are Worthless! Most of the time, they don't even bother to show up for work! And when they do show up, they sometimes do more harm than good... Either getting in our way or sleeping on the materials. Mostly they just sleep, and that is not so bad... as long as it is not on the parts we need.
So today, There was a conference in the shop on who gets to stay, and who will be voted off. Currently we have 4 possible candidates for the job, but there are only 2 available slots. Hiro and Rocket are the current placeholders of those positions. But today, Rocket had to face the music.
His constant begging for food, and to be let outside have become quite annoying. He does behave more like a dog, saving his bathroom visits for the great outdoors, rather than using the indoor plumbing of he litter box. But when we have 30+ stockings to do in a day, I can not be the personal valet of a part time cat. So ... Out he goes.
Times are tough for outdoor cats with no employment. Sometimes the lessons life teaches you are hard ones. A little tough love is required to force a cat into the optimum Shop Cat! Like Ready Whip! (May he rest in peace!) Even Rasha knew how to stay out of the way, while remaining within arms reach for moral support.
Eventually, Rocket learned his lesson and has been more attentive to his duties. He still tends to get in the way, but the other two cats: Haru and Leo, seem to enjoy being third shifters... Meaning they want to work the night shift rather than the afternoon, when Cheryl and I are clocked in.
Other than that, Cheryl and I have been working all weekend. 30+32 stockings for Saturday and Sunday. Cheryl can hardly wait to see what tomorrows orders bring us. It is just becoming that point where we are easily frustrated after each stocking rush. But we only have to hang on for another week or two.... And we need the sales.
Have I mentioned we are over 13,000 sales? I'm not sure when we set that record, but we have been in business since 2010. Actually, I think Allenbrite Studio was created in 2011, so about 1300 stockings a year average... or so. ( Our old shop...Mr Button... does not count for that number.)
Time to relax. The weather has been overcast and wet, but we still managed to run 4.5 miles. Perhaps we could haev finished the stockings earlier had we cut things short. But, Pleasant running days are going to become a rare commodity soon enough. Gotta grab them when you can.
Hope everyone had a fun weekend. I can't believe it is over already. That is what happens when you work all the way through them. The Holidays are always so busy for everyone, sometimes you have to slow down and take a longer run... At least that is what Cheryl says. Thanks to stopping in.

Holidays are quiet here on the farm.
Hopefully you don't get blown away by today's windy weather! Put some concrete blocks in Cheryl's running shoes!
Yeah for stocking sales!!
