Greetings from Kansas City! Where a Bored and "Thrill seeking" Marathon runner has traveled to challenger herself and her limitsof Physical and Mental Will!
And a place where Cheryl and I currently are. That Girl? Oh, This is not that story. (That story does sound exciting though...) This is where Cheryl and Ethan limp a tired and old Subaru several hundred miles to see if Cheryl has the guts to make it a: "Two Half-Marathons" weekend.
So here we are in Kansas City where the first one starts. Kansas City is having its Marathon tomorrow. Mixed with the 10K, and Half marathon. Cheryl is part of the 300 selected few who are brave enough to run 13.1 miles tomorrow.. And then follow it up with 13.1 mile in Des Moines. This will be a first for her attempt at back to back half marathons. The only thing left after that is back to back Marathons! And then on to Ultras!
But let's not get too far down the road. I'm just happy to be here and hopefully take a few pics for the Blog.
Packet Pickup was in the Union Station. Apparently, it is famous for being old... and stuff. The architecture reminded me of Chicago and Boston. Possibly a hold over style from the '20's. (That's 1920's for those Millennial)
There was a lot of stuff going on, but we did not want to pay for parking so we ditched it fairly early. Besides, Cheryl gets 2 shirts for the race as it is! And another one when we get to Des Moines! No need to buy the merch when you are one of the chosen 300.
We did sample the Beer though. I guess Boulevard Beer is hosting this one. We generally love this beer and have several favorites with them. I was happy to try their new offerings.
Other than that... Not many pictures to show off. My camera was warning 4 % battery when we got to the Expo. And the lighting was terrible anyway. Besides, All it has to do is work tomorrow. ( and Sunday) The Expo pics are usually rather boring anyway.
So wish her luck! She will need it... maybe. She is kinda strong. And has run 26.2 miles in one day, before. Why should she be unable to run 13.1 miles two days in a row? ( That is a total of 26.2 miles over two days for you Millennials.... Common Core math and all.)
