Happy Easter! It has been a great day today! Warm temps, gently breezes. Oh! And apparently Jesus rose from the dead. That's kind of a big deal... if you are a Christian. Ah yes! Saving Humanity while also leaving the dark confines of a damp and dreary tomb. I'm thinking it was a good day for him as well.
But enough about Jesus... Let's get to the chocolate! ( Lighten up folks! It's a joke. I'm Lutheran! And I bet Jesus found that segue funny, and laughed. )
Every Easter Cheryl has announced her intentions on buying the largest chocolate rabbit the local grocery stores have to offer. And every year, we wait just a little too long and they are all bought up before we can secure one for the Easter Holiday. But this year was different!
Back in February, we spotted the "Grand Bunny" from Palmer and snapped it up before anyone even noticed that the Easter section had already replaced the Valentine section. It was a good decision, because shortly after that, we noticed that only the small solid chocolate rabbits remained.
So for the last month and a half, we have been staring at the Grand Bunny at the end of our kitchen table, as he taunts us with his chocolate temptation... All the while knowing we can not eat him until Easter. Well Easter is Here! Grand Bunny! Say your Prayers Wabbit!
In addition to eating chocolate wabbit for the holiday, we also colored the Easter Eggs as is the holiday tradition. Similar to last year, we tried to keep the coloring system basic. No glitter bombs, oil slicks, stickers or acrylic paints.
But the Paas coloring kit did happen to have a bunch of "bug parts" so you can turn your eggs into miniature insects. Because, apparently eating bugs is all the Hollywood rage this season.
Well, I'll stick to hard boiled eggs. Thank you. In fact, I believe the humble chicken is one of the greatest gifts God has ever bestowed upon humanity. Ok... Not counting Jesus. ( Lighten up people! It's a Joke! And I bet Jesus found that call back funny as well. At least I hope so.) Chickens help keep your yard and garden clean from grubs, slugs, and other pests while providing delicious eggs for breakfast. They are easy to care for, easy to raise, and when they stop laying eggs, they can be cooked up and eaten as a Sunday dinner. Nothing is wasted! Why does everything taste like Chicken? Because we eat a LOT of them! And even if you don't eat the chicken, you can still enjoy the eggs fro Easter.
Other things we did today: I took advantage of the pleasant weather and managed to squeak out a chalk mural at the park. Cheryl noted the Irony of doing a Turtle on Easter. ( Because a turtle are the opposite of a rabbit... I know... It took me a second to think about, too.) Technically, it is supposed to be a sea turtle. And I think the fable of the Tortoise and the Hare really apply here, but they are close enough for an analogy.
As for Cheryl. She has attempted to make a Boston Creme Donut from scratch. Even though she followed all of the instructions to the letter.... The final results are a disaster! Not only did the yeast donut not rise as it was promised, the custard filling set up into a jello like substance. Making it impossible to pipe into the center of the donut. We ended up cutting the donuts in half and troweling the custard in the middle like a Whoopie Pie. The icing on top did not even set up properly. Ah well, I'm sure we will eat them anyway. They taste "Ok", but Cheryl says they taste like they are stale... even though she just made them. Maybe Creme filled donuts are not her Forte'...
Hope everyone is having a great Easter and a Great Weekend. I'm not sure what it is like in your State, but here in Iowa. People are ignoring that "no gathering over 10 people" rule, and having their families and friends over for some Easter Cheer. Good for them! After a Year of the Government getting almost everything wrong, it is time to begin exercising your God Given right to assemble and chase happiness with family, friends, and others.
Jesus would be laughing... I hope. |
It gives me great satisfaction seeing families enjoying the pleasant weather and each other's company. Jesus would be very proud. ( At least I hope so....)
Happy Easter! And thanks for Stopping in.

Happy Easter! Hope you enjoyed the chocolate! Yes I believe that Jesus has a sense of humor:)
I'm admittedly envious of your big chocolate bunny. I wanted to buy one this year but was too late. Long ago I used to buy the after-Easter marked down candy at K-Mart. Walmart NEVER has any marked down candy. I think they freeze it and will use it again next year.
Your dyed eggs are bright and colorful. I don't like added features such as stickers or glitter. Despite the fact that the Boston Creme donuts didn't turn out perfectly, they still look good. I'd definitely eat them!
Enjoyed seeing it all. I worried about your turtle last night as we were getting a downpour. Chocolate and candy of any kind is now off my diet. I still like to look at it all and remember.
