Day 4 in Arkansas. 'Twas The Last Day Before The Expo.

Our last "Free" day before things become serious.   For Tomorrow is the Expo for the Little Rock Marathon.   And things will start to get "Real".   (That is runner's lingo for: "We will not be able to fool around anymore.")

But in the mean time, we did fool around today.   Mostly shopping for clothes and playing dress up.   It was kind of fun.     Mostly for the "Runners".  They love looking at tech clothes and shoes... even if they already have top of the line stuff.

Now, before I get to high on my snob horse,  I should also note that we visited the Bass Pro Shop and I got to hold a bunch of different Fly rods.   It brought back memories when I could never have enough bait, tackle, or fishing equipment to sufficiently brave the waters as I trolled for bigger fish.  I guess I can understand their desire to look things over even when they already have the best of the best.

But eventually,  things just got silly.   Cheryl spent time feeling up the manikins,  Pam and Cheryl both played "Dress Up Barbie"  While playing the Real Estate Agent,  And then the Undercover Spy.

With a little motivation from Mike,  the eventually turned to "Flasher!"

It is a curious thing how runners are always hungry.  Five minutes after they are "STUFFED!" and "Can't eat another bite..." They become "STARVING!" and irate if they can not eat anything immediately.   And so it was that around noon,  both runners became so famished they could not think of anything except more food.   So we headed to the Waffle House.

The Waffle House has been a thing of mystique.  Cheryl and I have been talking it up  for  a while now and, for some unknown reason,  the universe has not been cooperative.   The first time we attempted to go, the place was half sealed off and we had to wait, eventually giving up.   The second attempt,  the place was "closed for remodeling"   So much for the Waffle house always being open... 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

But finally, we found one that was open AND allowed us to come in and eat.   We all ordered waffles. Because....Hello!  WAFFLE house!   ( Except Pam...  She is such a Rebel)   The food was to everyone's liking, so finally, Cheryl. and I have been vindicated.

After that,   More shopping!   Whew!    You would think we would be exhausted by now, but, for entertainment purposes, we pushed Mike into greeting every stranger with "I'm running the Marathon This weekend." Which made for several priceless encounters. That kept things moderately interesting... Along with  this really cool store in one of the Malls that allowed us to put on some really colorful suits and coats.   Mike, of course, put on the "Huggy Bear" fur coat.  Too bad we took this picture before we could find the matching hat to go with it.   It is unfortunate we did not get more pics of the really awesome clothes there...    Some seriously stylish attire that we may have to go back for once the Marathon is over.

Well,  Tomorrow is the Expo.   Saturday will be Pam's race and Sunday will be the Marathon.  Things are heating up and all of the players are prepping for battle.  Including me.   I have to take pictures and manage the course as to not get lost.   And then there will be the After Party that I will have to attend.  A Narrator's job is never finished until the final chapter of the book.  And the Little Rock Marathon is just one Chapter in a long story... With lots and Lots of Pictures.    Thanks for tuning in!

I would love the Waffle House. Went to one in Colorado Springs. I really like our Original Pancake House. Looks like Arkansas can be fun.
