Easter Adventures with Cheryl and Ethan.

One year ago!  Hard to believe.
Find the "Cheryl" in this picture.
"Adventures" may be a little over the top...but this is my blog....  So My Rules.

I will never let her forget...
Today is Easter and at this time LAST year....  Cheryl ran the BOSTON MARATHON!   Has it really been an entire year?  It seems like an entire lifetime ago.   Like a dream... or Nightmare, if you look back at that blog posting.  I do know that it was much, MUCH warmer than it was today here in Iowa.  We even cut our bike ride short because the temps were in the low 20's.    At least Cheryl got to run 3 miles, so things are looking up a little bit.

Let's Color EGGS!
But other than that,  We are celebrating Easter with an age old tradition of coloring eggs.   With no kids to bother us, we skipped the need to hide them.   However,  the inner child with both Cheryl and Myself requires us to go through the motions of coloring the eggs before eating them all.
Cheryl adds Vinegar to the Colors.
One Tbsp will do.

(And now I get to worry about all that cholesterol.  Hurray for Old Age!)  Being bullied by my inner child is somewhat of a theme for me.  I constantly cave in to his whims.  I know Cheryl faces the same challenge as well... And usually loses.   ( see all those Hello Kitty plushes!)

Hiro is Enchanted!
He would help if he only had thumbs.

Still,  his moral support is Helpful.
He makes the process Fun.
But we do have a cat that we can entertain with our little escapades now and then.   And even though he does  not actually eat the eggs,  he still seems to enjoy the process.  Cats have that innate child-like curiosity that I think parents hope to find in all of their children.   Sadly,  kids tend to get bored easily and often misbehave...  We call these: " Bad Kids."

Unlike Cheryl,  Who gets bored easily.

And then acts up.
And that is what it is like working with Cheryl sometimes.   She simply MUST be entertained ALL THE TIME or else she gets bored and has to fool around.   Why can't she simply find the "Zen" in simple activities?

And is distracting.
Then she takes the Credit.

Even though she does not eat the eggs either,  she still finds satisfaction when they are completed.   I told her about the "mixing colors" tradition to get various shades of egg colors.   She thought they would all just turn brown if we mixed cross colored things but the rarely ever do.

Time to mix things up!
And shows off the Final Item
However,  if you mix the colors of the water, it is possible that the eggs will turn gray.  Good thing we did not try her method.

The remainder of the day will be lazy
We also made some cinnamon rolls to satisfy that sweet tooth.  I have been indulging to way too much chocolate lately as it is.   I really should not be eating any Chocolate rabbits or eggs.  It is bad enough that I will be consuming ALL of these eggs... Hopefully not all at the same time.  ( But I love boiled eggs!)   We skipped out on the "Easter Breakfast" the locals were throwing.
Hope everyone is having a good one.
Too much money and too much food!  Instead,  we will enjoy our home time in the warmth of our living room and eat cinnamon rolls and colorful hard boiled eggs.  As the Cat watches intently.

Happy Easter everyone!

The colors that the eggs turn make the eggs seem so magical. I almost did the same thing and then life got in the way. I thought it would be fun to relive the dye thing. You two do seem to be busy and active, so taking time out for that would be good. We have a few blooms coming up but our weather probably is the same as yours. Both of you take care, and don’t eat too many eggs at once. Love those colors.
