Happy Monday! 38 Stocking Sales!!!!

As the title states,  we got Buried today.  Our normal limit is around 30 stockings a day.   Anything after that is just  depressing.   Today was one of those depressing days.

You might think that that many sales this early on would be exciting!  Almost anxiety inducing!  But Cheryl has been doing some record keeping this year and has been comparing it to last year.  ( the "pandemic year")

If you remember last year.  ( which, we don't.. And actually had to go back to last years blog posts to remember things...)   Last year,  the "pandemic year" was actually a record year for us!   I don't know what the final number was, but it crushed previous years income by a lot!  And the most likely reason we don't remember much from that time was because we were working almost non stop for 6 full weeks. ( And when I say "working"  I don't mean "working at a job"  I mean "working for yourself!"  Constant work, tireless work, no breaks kind of work....)

But this year, we are already ahead of last years sales!  Both September and October  were solid months with about a 30% increase in sales.  ( Well, Money wise.... I will get back to that.) And November is kicking off with a bang.

To keep motivated and to  not allow ourselves to become emotionally crushed,  I have to remind myself that any day over 30 stockings  is a day of over $1000.00!  There are 30 days in November..  Meaning a possibility of $30 grand in just a single month.  And if we ever want to get that 4 bedroom house in the Hamptons...  That means we will have to make a lot of stockings.   Let's do a little math.

Average family home in the Hamptons is currently $1.1 million bucks.   Hmm..  That IS a lot of stockings.   We would have to do $37,000 dollars each DAY to get to that number. And if we ever want to get to numbers like that,  we will have to figure out where our limitations are.  Namely... Our Employees.

As much as we love Cheryl and Ethan, they are just not fast enough to get us to the next level of income.   So the obvious thing to do is replace them with robots.  I hear Robots are all the rage these days, with a Pandemic still looming,  Forced Vaccine mandates, Strikes, Walkouts, and an unskilled, college-educated labor force;  Employers are turning to robots to fill the void.

Now the going price for Fast Food robots is around $30,000 dollars.  Meaning:  If we dedicate an entire Month's worth of sales, we could maybe buy a second hand robot that can flip burgers.  That is a lot of Stockings.   And no money left over for us!   And let's be real for a second,  Sewing is not Burger flipping.

Anyone who has ever worked at McDonalds has to know some of the Idiots that worked there.  ( Including Cheryl and Myself!)  Flipping Burgers was a Meme before Memes were a thing.  But after having graduated from college... twice!  And eventually moving up out of the Burger Flipping career,  I can tell you that sewing on buttons is WAY more complicated! ( Rodrick and Lester would never have made it in the Allenbrite Stocking sewing Business....)

But now they have a sewing Robot that can do a number of Simple tasks, like sewing bath mats and t shirts.  Perhaps they will make end roads into being able to take on more complicated items  (Like Christmas Stockings)   in the future. But for now,  the cost is slightly out of our reach.  So we will be relying on the slow and troublesome "Human Labor" that we initially formatted into our business plan.

It is too bad.   Cheryl and Ethan have been telling us that each year would be their last.  AND they complain a LOT.    The only thing that is keeping them employed is our inability to FIRE them.

But there is an upside.   We have cats.   And sometimes they "help".   Well, that depends on your Definition of "Help". is....   But for now,  I will sign off and try to think of something else to rant about for tomorrow's blog post.  If I actually will have the time, that is.   I guess I will know tomorrow.   Until then.. Thanks for stopping in.

Wow a great stocking day! Good for you! Robots can do surgery now so why not!

Custom work will always be in demand. This probably is one of the reasons why your stockings are so popular.
Wow, that is a lot of work!
