The Night Before the Hilly Billy Hike...

Sounds like a Horror movie.  Maybe.... With Scarecrows and Toothless bearded guys with Kentucky long muskets. But alas, it is just a Half Marathon  in the middle south area of Iowa.  Today was mostly a travel day... We pick up the packet and checked out the race route before retiring in our hotel for the rest of the evening.

It seems like it has been a long day, even though we finished up 8 stockings before we left this morning.. and still managed to arrive 2 hours early for the packet pickup.  What better way to waste two hours than to head to the Krispy Kreme for some Donuts.

We sprung for the full dozen this time, as that seemed like the better value.  However, I'm not sure we can eat all of these donuts today.  Perhaps Cheryl will eat some tomorrow morning instead of having one from Casey's.  Even stale Krispy Kremes might be better than fresh gas station donuts.  ( Maybe....)

The packet pickup was fairly easy.  A full 15 miles from the actual race route! So after picking up the bib and shirt, we headed to the High school finish point and backtracked the race in reverse from there.  The race is a point to point race, starting in Indianola.  Where we are currently spending the night. Turns out, our hotel is only about a mile or two away from the start line.   Hurray!

Other than that,  we got some food,  checked out a few stores for cat food and other things, and are currently hanging out and trying to get some rest.   Tomorrow is supposed to be nice as far as weather goes.  Predictions have the temps rise to the low 70's?  We shall see.   All I know is that I'm prepared for extreme cold and warm.  I have my parka and my shorts.  As long as I don't freeze or melt, I should be ok for the spectating.  And hopefully, I will be able to capture Cheryl in several areas.   We'll see you then!

Looks like amazing weather for the run today. Enjoy it while I clean gutters and mow yard!
Good luck Cheryl!

I would definitely take a Hill Billy Hike if it involved Krispy Kreme donuts. Hope you have a great time...with favorable weather.
