New Female Marathon Record.. Today. In Chicago!

It wasn't Cheryl.... Cheryl has her work cut out for her though.   In the windy city,  a record that has stood for 16 years has been shattered!   Read the facts here:

This means Cheryl will have to work even harder in the upcoming Marathon if she wants that Nike Endorsment...  ( Or any endorsment would be nice....  Any takers?   She is cute...  kinda old, and runs pretty fast.)

Paula Radcliff with Brigid
Kenya's Brigid Kosgei has beaten Paula Radcliff's long standing record by locking in a 2 hour 14 minute two second Marathon time in Chicago.   Cheryl ran 10 miles today and thought the temps were "almost perfect" for a good marathon.   I think Brigid would agree.

Yesterday, The Impossible was
proven.
Also,  Yesterday the fastest male Marathoner beat the unbeatable 2 hour marathon time.  It is unofficial because it was run under "laboratory conditions" just to see if it could humanly be done.   It has!   So there is no longer the excuse that running sub 2 hours is humanly "impossible".  (And just when we were getting comfortable with our human limitations....)

So 2019 is turning out to be a year of broken records in the distance races.  Cheryl has certainly improved.. even though she has complained a lot about it along the way.  Maybe that is one reason people don't push themselves past their limits all the time.   Sure!  They can achieve greatness! But they become are monsters to live with before and after the goal has been won.   And they complain all the time.  They are simply never satisfied.
Maybe this guy is the actual record
holder.... we may never know.
And they make the rest of us look like slugs.   So enjoy your moment of triumph miss "New Female Marathon Record Holder",  I think the unsung hero is the husband and kids who had to put up with your training and mood swings leading up to Chicago.    Let's give these guys a little credit as well.

Men's Shooting Match at the
finish.
All joking aside,  that was an outstanding achievement!  The mens side of Chicago was equally spectacular right up to the end.   No records, but it was a shooting match all the way to the last second.    If you are curious,  watch history here:
