More Origami

It is with great sadness that a great blogger is going the way of the dinosaurs.   The Blog “The Village Carpenter”  is leaving us.  This is very sad.   I followed Kari back in the woodcarving days.  She discovered carving while working on other cool wood projects, and got hooked.   She made some cool videos as well.   Ah well,  She will be missed…as she writes that million dollar wood working book with her blog as a reference.

As for me, I gave up carving back in 2010 and have become a folder of paper.   Hey,  We can all change,  Right?

In the mean time…some origami..things.   Enjoy!

Purple Dragon, Red Wing Black Bird….Folded!

A quick post on some of the things I have been working on this weekend.  In addition to several more birdsI folded up a red wing black bird and a purple dragon to replace the one I sold earlier.   YEAH!

Other than that, the weather has been  causing me stress as the weather bug is constantly warning us of a potential flood.   With our own flood fresh in our memories, every time it rains hard and fast, I get a little nervous. Ah well,   what are you going to do?   Labor day is tomorrow and we have the day off.   And our project for ACT will be coming to a closing around Friday.   That leaves us three weeks to occupy our time and make some stockings for this coming Christmas season.  Luckily, we are already on the next project that will be starting in June.  Until then, I will keep folding and posting things when I can.   Enjoy.

More Birds!

Just a quick post on the last couple of birds.   I still have to show off the red and yellow one,  but for now,  since I have not posted anything in a while I thought, “ what the heck!”DSC_6303  DSC_6318

The Job is pushing that special button that gets you down.  call it depression if you must.   But after reading several dozen papers about how you should live your life….words from a teenager!   It begins to get to you….that whole..”What if?”  Question.   What if I had chose  a different path…. What if I stopped eating junk food.  What if I had taken better electives in High School?  Anyway,  it is late…and I’m too tired to think about those questions.   Enjoy the Origami!DSC_6305DSC_6316

Better Pics of the Origami Black Grackle

Just a quick post of some better pics of the grackle.  I know,  wy post these pics of something you already posted?  Well,  I get bothered when the picture is not showing the origami off in its best light.  So,  here they are!   I also folded a couple other colors today,  so I will still have to mount them and post their pictures later.   In the mean time…Enjoy!

Origami Grackle!

It’s late!  But I wanted to put up a quick post before the cat jumps on my lap and ruins everything. DSC_6255  DSC_6247I have been folding Grackles for the past few days and finally mounted them on some branches.  Not as easy as I would have liked,  but it worked out.  I think I have to take better pics of the black one,  but maybe tomorrow.  For now,  we have been required to turn our sleep clock back a few hours as we are once again on a project of ACT.  It’s fun!   We qualified yesterday and that is always a little nerve-wracking…and a relief when we pass it.  I have been a little tired after work so not much folding gets done, but I can still “nit pick” little things.  Anyway,  enjoy the pics!   I’m quite fond how they turned out and will have to fold up some more birds in different colors later!.

Origami Swans….Cool ones!

I have not posted anything in a while so I thought I would throw  up a quick post before retiring for the evening.

We are going to start back up with ACT next week, so Cheryl has been getting restless and we have been rather busy these past weeks….so I have A…not been posting and B…Not been folding much.  However,  every now and then I get the urge that boils over inside me and I fold even though I ‘m tired or exhausted.  Anyway, I folded up a couple of quick swans that I was thinking about after watching a video about Akira Yoshizawa.  I’m not sure how close I got to his design,  I just started folding.  But I like the results and I will tinker with it a little later when I’m more awake.  In the mean time….Enjoy!

Basia, A Dream from Poland

Remember the '80s?  I heard a song the other day that reminded me of this singer from the 80s-90s.  She was awesome then and still is!  Basia!  Well,  here is a song of hers I had never heard before....until now...enjoy!

Origami Tarantula, Yeow!

I had a request for an origami Spider.  Specifically a tarantula.   This is not a bad version, though not exactly a tarantula.  It is still big and scary…and folded out of cardstock!   I’m actually quite proud that it did not tear while I was shaping it.  Hopefully someone on Etsy will like it as well and give it a try.

DSC_6174The other project I worked on was a red crane for my business cards.   Cheryl suggested it so I’m thinking she has a plan for it eventually.  It is too bad the pictures don’t do it justice.  I’m probably going to take better pics of it later when we have a better background  DSC_6184  Cheryl was requesting white.  I tried a piece of felt, but I think white paper might yield better results.  We shall see.DSC_6186
