A Pleasant Weekend. Let's Make Stuff!

The weather is supposed to be awesome all weekend.   And Cheryl had Planned on running 15 miles.   But....  Things change.

Turns out she has been running every day this week  in the extreme morning hours before work.   Sure, it is only three miles, but the neighborhood is filled with hills and morning cars.  Looks like she simply did not have the right frame of mind, nor the energy to run the full 15 today.   Well... there is always tomorrow in Muscaine.

This is how she "rests".
She did run 8.75 though.   It was windy,  cold, and sunny.  (I  guess "sunny" could be a bad thing... from a certain perspective.)  And she had figured she had her threshold of misery at that distance.    I always say we "practice being miserable" so we can take on the rest of life.   Luckily for me,   I have a very low "pain and misery tolerance", so I can get my training over in just a few moments.   Cheryl takes a little longer.

Flour hands.  (Flower?)
But on to home... where we can now lay around and do nothing.   Except that is exactly what Cheryl doesn't do!     Instead,  she chooses to bake stuff.

Dehydration in action!
Banana bread ( Good GOD!  More Banana Bread!)  Pizza Crust, and Sweet Potato chips!   I shall elaborate.

Banana Bread!
Mis-shaped Sweet Potatoes
First.   I really hope that we eventually reach our limit of the Banana bread.  It is TOO DELICIOUS!  And both of our waist lines are suffering for it.  (Mostly mine, since I eat so much more of it than she does...)  Ever since she added the Chocolate chips and English Walnuts,  the entire pan has an insanely short shelf life.
Peel

Slice!
Then...  Dehydrated Sweet Potato chips.   We treated ourselves to a Dehydrator for Christmas.  Mostly to dehydrate Mushrooms  that we find this year.  However,  Cheryl has taken it over with her dehydrated fruit plans.  She has been drying berries, bananas and other things.   One of the perks is that the low heat from the machine causes any yeast item... like sourdough starter or pizza crust dough, to be very happy.    And with that...  we needed something to dry so we could make pizza this afternoon.
Drying has never been easier!

The health food store charges crazy prices for "veggy chips" that are just dried carrots, beets, and some other plant items.   I suggested we take a stab at sweet potatoes   So far,  they look pretty promising.

Crazy person baking... sounds like the name of her
next venture.
And then there is the Pizza.   Artisan Pizza sounds so much better than "Gino's" .   We make our own and load it will toppings...  mostly mushrooms.   Today's featured items are Farm raised Oyster Mushrooms with commercially harvested Maitaki  mushrooms.
Artisan Pizza.

Add in a few sprouts of broccoli and some cheese and we are set!   ( Of course there is sauce, garlic and fresh oregano... and any other item we have lying around that might add flavor.)   The best is when we can add our own tomatoes and Chanterelles.   I can't wait for the Mushroom season to begin.

Stuffed with Mushrooms...  Yummy!
Well,   As Cheryl spend the rest of the evening playing with beads and making jewelry, I will be chilling with the cat and maybe watching videos, playing games, and otherwise avoiding any thoughts of Work.   I'm hoping tomorrow will be a similar day as today... but with less wind.  Thanks for stopping in.

I admire Cheryl's energy and endurance - - for running and for baking. All of that homemade food looks absolutely delicious! The weekend weather has been very nice here in Tennessee (for a rare change). Hopefully this is the promise of an early spring.
