Misty, but dry in Muscatine. |
|
Rainy day. |
After the last several days of house arrest, Cheyrl and I decided to roll the dice and take our chances for a run in Muscatine. So far, there are no reported cases of the virus there and we were itching to run somewhere different. Cheryl was also running out of crafting supplies and Muscatine has a JoAnn Fabrics there. We would run/bike and then pick up some supplies for home.

Let's run! ( And bike....) |

A lot of mist is better than a
little wind.. |
It was a rainy morning, but no wind! And the rain was much lighter than yesterday's downpour. The mist kept the sun hidden pretty much the entire day. But the temps were mild and Cheryl managed to finish 7 miles between the scattered showers.

The Tug is Back! |
|
Not sure if it is the same one
as before. |
One note, the Tug/barge boat is back! However, I do believe it is a different boat from before. I don't have the name of the old boat, but I do think it was not the Donn L.Williams. They had removed the entire dock and platform before, but now things are back to normal.
We dropped by Jo and picked up our supplies. The place was surprisingly active. Our own small town Casey's was practically deserted today. But people were out and about in Muscatine. Later we headed to the HyVee and found similar results. No lines or sanitation craziness. Just people keeping their distance and doing their shopping. There were a few items out of stock... eggs, flour, sugar... we did not check out the Toilet Paper.. but I would guess that they probably had at least a few rolls left.
|
7 miles complete! |
But most importantly, they had
BEER! It boggles my mind the folks are not stocking up on the "important" things like Beer and Chocolate. They even had a sale on my favorite IPA! Saving money always makes me happy.

Governor Reynolds telling the Press they are Dumb.
(My impression/opinion.) |
Finally home, Cheryl tuned into the Governor's address for Iowa to bring people up to date on the current situation... which is. Nothing has changed! A few new cases, wash your hands, avoid crowds... yadda yadda. Mostly
common sense things. The big take away was how
STUPID the press has become. They were wondering why
everyone in Iowa has not been tested for the virus already. The Governor told them of the limited number of testing kits and the need to keep them to sever cases and people most at risk. I guess the
Toilet paper fiasco has not taught these people the concept of
Shortages.
Even so, there is no cure for the virus at the moment... so everyone is on their own to recover themselves. And even if they
DID test
everyone, anyone could catch the stupid thing
tomorrow! I'm impressed that they have testing kits
At ALL! seeing as this is a
new virus and there are literally
thousands of Viruses out there that have
not even been discovered yet. Let alone have testing kits for it
and enough for everyone to be tested
whenever they feel like it....

Yes! And it is Everywhere! RUN! |
So the advice/message is continue doing what you are doing, carry on, wash hands, limit exposure, stay home if you have symptoms. Same advice if you had a common cold. Seems like a simple remedy to a complex virus. I just wish folks would settle down and stop screaming that the sky is falling.

It's great to be outside! |
Ok, a bit of a rant. Hope everyone is enjoying the last day of Winter. Feels like Spring has arrived already. Plenty of rain and slightly warmer temps. If you can get outside a little, stay dry and avoid shaking hands with the neighbors. There is really no cure better than a breath of fresh outside air. And nothing better to enjoy that fresh air... than with a beer and some Chocolate! Thanks for stopping in.

We always buy Fat Tire for our son in law...they were fortunate enough to get a private tour one day at the New Belgium brewery and were very impressed.
Sounds like your area is out of the same things our area is out of. Found a neighbor that has eggs.:)
Yes my husband and I were talking about why people with no symptoms are test crazy when tomorrow they could be infected...I am convinced half the world and all the press are idiots:)
Stay safe!
