Cheryl's Plan to Run An Unhealthy Marathon.

Cheryl signed up for the Fargo Marathon in North Dakota today.   We needed a Spring Marathon and she has been putting off on committing to one for long enough.   "What is the Point of Running if you are not going to run a Marathon?"  Yeah!  Seems to make sense to me....

But the Winter has really cut into her Marathon training.   Yeah!  That training for that run that she, up until today, did not know was on the calendar.  ( That sentence makes sense in my head...so I will leave it.)

The point!   She will now have to incorporate long runs into her routine now that the snow is mostly gone.   And the warmer temps have finally appeared . ( 60 Degrees today!  Up 30 degrees from yesterday!)    So we ran 12 miles yesterday and made a visit to Muscatine to take in the Big Muddy Mississippi one last time before Work starts tomorrow.

Warm enough to Boat on the
Mississippi

The River is Still pretty low.
But it always seems to be something....  Now that the Weather is no longer an issue...  there is the Pearson gig.   I think it is only 2 weeks, but that might change.   This will mostly cut into her daily runs.

So far,  the lack of good weather,  the Surplus of AWESOME Brownies and Blondies, AND the overabundance of time on the floor while crafting  has added a few unwanted consequences.  They say if you run Marathons, you can eat anything you want...  Oh contrare!

Turns out,  skipping runs, eating brownies, and laying around afterwards can seriously  add time to your miles and a few pounds  around your middle.  Add in that she had to take frequent walk breaks on the 7 mile run today... and you can imagine just how out of shape things have become.  I shudder to think how these things affect me!  I only bike a few miles and eat twice as many brownies!   I am terrified to step on the scale.

Marathon Training Begins...NOW!
But tomorrow is a New Day!  And with the weather finally on our side,  I see the possibility to step up our efforts.   AND  Once the remaining brownies are gone... I will be able to start watching what I eat and maybe have enough will power to not eat it!  Plus,  Having a Marathon actually on the calendar will hopefully keep us focused on our ultimate goal.  ( To run Marathons!  Duh...)  We shall see if the training for this Marathon will continue to cut the time and the pounds off of Cheryl... and maybe me as well.   ( I DO bike along side her, after all...)  Wish us luck!
