Running In Shorts In December... In Iowa. Subie Gets to Breathe Clean.

Remember this?   Three Weeks ago....
Now THIS!   Let's Picnic!
First, I just want to note that a few weeks ago, it was cold with a pile of snow here in Iowa.   But the last three days have almost been "Picnic Weather".   Sunny with a high around 45.   If the wind behaves, it is almost like early spring!    Cheryl has been running in SHORTS the last couple days.   Granted, we have had fewer stockings ( today, only 12... but yesterday still in the teens!)  So we have been getting them done in the morning and then going out in the afternoon.... when the weather is the best.
Last change 100, 000 miles ago...  Three years ago.

With our new found time and the added nice weather,  I took advantage and ticked off another "to do" thing for the Subie.   Cheryl purchased a new cabin air filter for the interior.  Last time we went with a HEPA filter, but it still allowed  gas fumes and "Summer  Road Kill" smells to enter the cabin.  ( No one wants to smell Gasoline...)     So this time,  Cheryl ordered the Charcoal filter from Subaru.  And I get to put it in!

I wonder if it needs Changing?
It has been a while since I have been in this section of the Subie... But it is kind of like riding a bike...  First you fall,  then you are able to almost control it.
So that is what is making that sound...

Upon cracking the old filter,  I finally figured out what all that buzzing around was whenever we turn on the vent.    A bunch of Leaves had managed to find their way into the vents.    The once pure white filters are now covered in dust!   It was going to take more than my hand to sift this out.   I had to get the vacuum for this one.

Better Vacuum it up.
A few moments later and a little bit of brushing with a toothbrush, and it almost looked clean again.  I reassembled and put everything back together...  Only to realize the light to the glove box does not work now.

No More Manure Smells in Subie's Cabin.
Rinse and repeat!   I can never do the disassembly less than two times.   The thing is, everything is as it should be.   Power gets to the plug.  The light and switch both work.   So... somewhere,  the connection is not being made.   I'm hoping it simply heals itself after Subie rattles around a little more.   As for now!   Breathe that clean Iowa Air... Without the Pig Fertilizer smell.
