The Extreme Cold and the Death of the Subaru..... Battery.

That is right, after 11 years with a genuine Subaru Car battery,  the negative temps in Iowa finally killed it.  It was not really a shock.   We had talked about replacing the battery several times before, but each time,   the battery just continued to plug along as if it was perfect.   Why fix anything that is not broken, right?

Well,  Sometimes,  especially with a 20 year old car,  you have to take preventative measures.   We replaced the Alternator a couple times, even when it was still functioning properly. But, for whatever reason,  we kept that darn Subaru Battery.

But the final nail was delivered this morning, and we walked down to the local NAPA to replace it.  Hopefully,  the NAPA battery will last as long.  Fingers crossed!

YMCA?  Only Freaks go there!

Our new found house arrest at least got us to go to the local YMCA here in Wellman and allowed Cheryl to sign up for a one month membership.   She was able to run 5 miles in the blistering heat. ( Apparently, they keep the place warm for the old folks who walk there.)   I was not really dressed for inside biking, but I gave it 20 minutes at the lowest setting.   Even then, I got plenty warm.   Cheryl says that we are only going to go there when the temps stay insanely cold, like today.  And had Subie not froze up, I'm sure we would have went out running this morning.

Because we did it yesterday!  At -8 degrees!  Cheryl's eyes froze shut.   We only ran 2 miles, and mostly that was to inspect the trails after the Saturday Blizzard.  The good news is that the trail is passable.    Even for Bikes!  Had the wind not been so terrible, and had Cheryl been dressed more appropriately,  we might have squeezed out a couple additional miles.  Well, there is always tomorrow.

We continue to sell stockings!  5 today!  Perhaps we have been playing this after Christmas thing all wrong.  I personally think they continue to trickle in just to tick Cheryl off.   Hey!  What ever works!  I don't mind if it makes Cheryl angry as long as we can continue work through the Summer.

Hope everyone is staying warm.   The cold is set to continue for the week I guess.    Tomorrow is Lunch with Sylvia from Work.   ( Old work.) Hopefully, she will be able to entertain us for a couple hours after Cheryl runs in the morning.   It has been a while so there will be much to catch up on.

Thanks for stopping in.   249.

That's pretty amazing for a battery. I doubt mine will last that long? I don't know.
I'm just happy to have it to get around.
Love my Subaru.

I used to love going to the gym. No Y's around here, I'd have to drive 45 miles for one!

Stay warm in this next weather event.
