Running With Dandelions

Cheryl ready to Run!
The Iowa Rains have brought back all of the colors of spring.  Spring sure took its time getting here.   But finally,  things are green and ....Yellow!

Spring is Ushered in by Yellow

That is right,  the Dandelions are out in full force.  Unlike most of the Iowa Population, I actually like Dandelions.  Not only for the tasty bitterness that Mom's potato salad offered, but also for the bright splash of yellow across everyone's lawn and boulevard median.

Follow the Yellow Flower Road.
Violets peek through as well.
The dandelions lined the path Cheryl selected to run on today.   We went back to the waste water treatment area.   It was quite busy with cyclists and dog walkers.    Cheryl ran three miles and we biked for ten.  It was a wonderful day that started to get a little hot towards noon.   If the sun had not been out so intently,   I'm sure the cooler breeze and 70 degree temps would have made our biking fun last longer.   As it was,  I was happy to get what I could.

Some purple splashes.
Cheryl sacked out in the sun for a sec while recovering from her run.

Many of the flowering trees are out as well.
The Dandelions were not the only thing out.   Many of the flowering trees were also coming into bloom.  I think this is a crab apple tree.   A few of the other trees were already losing their pedals.   I remember the scene when we were scoring for ACT.   The Apple blossoms were all falling and it looked like snow.   Very peaceful and beautiful.  One of those moments you wish you could capture...but fades like a song on the wind.

Soon there will be Purple Rain.

Now it is Bike Time!
Speaking of songs.  A few days ago,  I heard a few bars from this song.  Venture Highway from America.  I think it fits nicely here.  I have been playing it over and over on my computer.   Maybe the tune will haunt you as well.   Enjoy.
