New Trail Shoes, Mushrooms, and Deer.

Another Chilly Morning.

New Space-Age Trail Shoes.
A chilly morning today.   Cheryl has been eager to try out her new Adidas trail shoes that she acquired in Michigan.   Good color,  Cleats, and stiff sole suggest they would be good for winter running.   She says that they are acceptable....which can only be a good thing.
Still harvesting before the snow flies.

Cheryl inspects the puffball.

Smaller than last weeks.  But still may be fresh.
Lots of Puffballs.
While on the trail,  we found several more puffballs.  Most of them are well beyond their expiration date.   I have been hoping to get the large one I found last week to hurry and turn green so I can spread it around the yard.   I thought for a moment that I should pick one of these guys, but that green sponge tends to stain anything that touches it.
The expired ones look like foam Rubber.
Cheryl spots a deer on the trail

Look! Look!

She was very excited.

Couldn't tell if it had antlers though.
I have been hoping we would see a deer  on the trail ever since the frost has come.  Now is the time of year you may most lkely see one with antlers.   Cheryl was eager to point out the one in front of us on the trail.  Unfortunately,  the distance and focus are not clear enough to see any antlers.   We did see a buck rub, though.   So it may be possible to see one in the future.   Several years ago, we saw several Monsters!   If I only had my camera back then....

Now on to Stockings.

Currently we are sewing up 16 stockings.  Tomorrow we will have a rather large order to fill for a store in California.   25 stockings along with any we sell between tonight and tomorrow.  Looks like things are getting busy.
