More Fall Color.

Another day in Muscatine.   I simply can not get over how colorful this year has become.   It is a small bright spot in an otherwise dreary year.   For this reason,  Sometimes it is helpful to be reminded of the good things, rather than the social woes.

Come to think about it,  the weather was rather pleasant all year this year.   Summer,  Normally hot or humid in Iowa, was rather mild by comparison.   And let us not forget how fun it was finding Mushrooms out in the forests.  Every time I reach into the "Mushroom Bin" and grab a handful for my soup, I'm reminded just how bountiful things were.

The weather was another warm one in the low 70's.   Cheryl wanted to get outside to enjoy the earth before it freezes up.   Unfortunately,  the gnats are currently AWFUL!   No-See-'Ems... what ever you want to call them.   They bite and burn you as you are trying to relax. They make your skin feel like it is on fire. For this reason, we limited our time outside.

But we did visit Muscatine again.   Cheryl needed a few things from the HyVee and the Muscatine county does not have a mandatory mask  mandate. After running, pizza, and a HyVee visit, we were back home sewing up stockings.

We finished 10 today.   Smaller number than yesterday, but it still felt like a full day.

Hope everyone else is enjoying their "Indian Summer"  where ever you may be.   It is currently 3:45 and already, the sun looks like it is setting  outside the window.   The down side to Autumn is the shortening days.    Especially when the weather is cooperating to make it a peaceful time to be outside.    Thanks for stopping in.

I just made a batch of homemade soup with dehydrated morels tossed in. Wow, were they ever good. I haven't gotten courageous to try some of the other wild mushrooms, but do forage for Wild Parsnip and other veggies.
Your weather looks wonderful. It was warm here also..much further north of you. No bugs other than the annoying asian beetles that come in after soybean fields are harvested.
Sounds like you had a full day!
