New tree carving!

So I decided to stop doing nothing and carve yet another tree. This time I decided to bring it inside because it has been getting rather cold outside lately. I was impressed that this one was not as heavy as previous full tree carvings, but it still has a rotted center so, once again I will have to carve fairly shallow and try not to break into the rotted part. Well. I didn't get very far tonight, but I plan on making a dent tomorrow. Will post more pics then. It was most helpful that Red approved of the log.

Noticed the regularity of your postings were decreasing. Ach "noli illagitami carabarandi". My family motto, "Do n't let the bastards grind you down". It always works out in the end. Keep at the carving of the tree. By nature I'm not an envious person but I do envy your ability to have the facility to carve on that scale. We've a small strip of mixed woodland here, belongs to the woodland trust. There are some beautiful straight lime trees there I'd love to carve.

You decided to move it inside? Have you been living in the boonies so long that you think under a tree is inside? 8-)

Think you could get Red to scratch a pattern in that log? Could save you some time.

I posted the inside pics now, By inside I mean the garage. LOOK AT THE MESS! It will be a shore to have to clean up all those chips. Then again, it rained ( AGAIN) tonight so I'm thankful I brought it inside. I would love to see what carving lime is like. this tree I'm working on now is maple, not bad to carve with chisels, really bad with power tools thought. I love the way lime looks when it is finished.
