Tree carving day 5. Here's to the Ears!

Today I worked a little on her hair and left ear. Normally I leave the ears out since they are covered with hair, but tonight I decided to take a stab at it and I think it turned out pretty good! At first I thought I might be making a mistake by having them too far back, however, when I picked up one of Cheryl's magazines as a reference, I saw that I was just about right. I then outlined it, sketched up where the waste wood was to be removed, then dug it out with a small veiner. I really don't know what I was scared of. I'm still considering if I should put on on the other side, or leave it covered with hair. As you can see, Red the shop cat, had to help me out with the ear placement. I keep warning him that a stray chisel swing could cause him problems, but he never listens. I should be thankful for the company after all.

wow, that is looking great. You are doing a good job with the textures and form. Yes, my yellow kitty followed me all over the yard this afternoon, just to be company.
